Campsites Venice

Parking in Venice: You should reserve a parking space in the parking garage online in advance. Especially now at Corona time many people come to Venice by car. There is a great website for reserving parking spaces: Click Here

Insider tip:
Travel comfortably without queues, buy tickets online beforehand:

The northern Adriatic Sea in Italy is extremely popular with campers. There are many campsites around Venice, some of them are among the largest campsites in Europe. However, the campsites are hardly in Venice itself, but in the immediate vicinity. The campers then visit Venice in day trips by car, bus or ship (ferry).

In the following an overview of some good, well-known and large campsites in the region in and around Venice.

Camping Fusina

This course is on the mainland south of Mestre and Marghera. These are the large districts of Venice on the mainland. Almost directly next to Camping Fusina there is a ferry to Venice (departures during the day every hour, distance only 3-4 kilometers). The place is especially good for people who want to make daily or several trips to Venice. Camping Fusina is beautifully situated, by the sea. But in the further surroundings is a large industrial area. Camping Fusina is also not easy to reach by public transport. Tickets for the ferries Fusina - Venice are available at the campsite.

Camping Village Marina di Venezia

Very large campsite almost in the south of the large peninsula south of Jesolo in Cavallino, an area with beautiful beaches. The ferry to Venice from Punta Sabbioni is about one kilometer away. Here every 30 minutes big ferries of the vaporetto line 14 to Venice San Marco (city center near St. Mark's Square) leave. In Punta Sabbioni there are many 1000 parking places for day travellers to Venice.

Camping Village Marina is gigantic. There is a whole street with stores, large and small pools, sports facilities for many sports, good sanitary facilities and much, much more. Many regular guests, one of the biggest campsites in Italy. Very good ratings on the Internet. Open to Corona in summer 2020. Hardly any other campsite has more to offer.

Our tip: Buy tickets for waterbuses beforehand

It is not always easy to buy tickets abroad. You don't know where to buy tickets, foreign ticket machines are difficult to use, there are language problems, queues, etc.

The 1, 2 or 3 day valid tickets for the waterbuses (ferries) in Venice are needed by almost every tourist. These tickets can now be bought on this english website.

The tickets for the bus from Venice airport to the city are available on this page in English language.

Camping Ca'Savio

This campsite is about 1 km north of Camping Village Marina. Also from here it is only a little more than one kilometer to Punta Sabbioni (ferries to Venice). Beautiful beach (sand) and lots of shade from trees. Very popular are the bungalows and other rentable buildings and tents. Swimming pools, stores and restaurants etc., everything ok. Also many German regulars. After Corona open in summer 2020.

Other campsites around Venice

There are dozens of other campsites around Venice. Many are on the peninsula with the town of Cavallino with ferry connection from Punta Sabbioni to Venice. Also further up the peninsula in and around Lido di Jesolo there are some well known and good camping sites.

South of Venice in the city of Chioggia and the beach suburb of Sottomarina are several campsites. From here it is quite far to Venice, at least one hour. From there you can either go by your own car, by bus or by ferry and bus via the islands Pellestrina and Lido to Venice. >>> On this website you can reserve parking spaces in Venice.

Even in Venice itself, on the island of Lido, there is a campsite in the far north. You have to travel to Lido by car or camper by ferry. The place is called Camping San Nicolo.

Our tip: Reserve a parking space

Parking is very difficult on the island of Venice. There are only the 4 parking garages at the entrance to the old town. These are often full. If you come by car, you should reserve in one of the parking garages in advance.

    >>>   On this website you can reserve parking spaces.    (Old town island, Mestre on the mainland and airport)

Corona Update Parking Venice

Currently all 4 parking garages in Venice are not very full and have similar prices. We therefore recommend two parking garages right next to the Old Town at Piazalle Roma.  These are Autorimessa Comunale AVM (often good offers) and Garage San Marco.     Be sure to book online in advance!

Caution: In the summer of 2020 many campsites in the Venice region will be closed due to Corona, including some that are described in this article.
